Huainan: Issuance of the Songs of Chu Special Stamps
Recently, the issuance ceremony for the Chuci special stamps was held at the Anhui Chu Culture Museum.
As the earliest anthology of romantic poetry in Chinese literary history, Chuci laid the foundation for China’s romantic literary tradition. Its influence resonates across virtually every domain and genre of Chinese literature, nourishing them with its spiritual and artistic legacy.
The newly issued Chuci special stamp set includes six stamps, each featuring a classic verse from the Chuci. The design of the stamps are remarkably original, employing traditional Chinese painting techniques that integrate fine brushwork with freehand styles, and combine elevated and panoramic perspectives. Within each square inch, the stamps encapsulate the spirit of Qu Yuan’s quest for truth, his deep patriotism, and the aesthetic of his noble character, making this set an exquisite philatelic artwork rich in romantic charm and imbued with the essence of Chu culture.
The release of these stamps serves as a vivid expression of the postal service’s support for the national cultural strategy. It also marks a significant enhancement of Huainan’s urban cultural brand. With the municipal government and local enterprises working in harmony for mutual benefit, the initiative draws upon Shou County’s rich cultural heritage to closely integrate themed post offices, commemorative postmarks, and cultural tourism routes. Through the postal network, more integrated “Postal Service + Cultural Tourism” projects are being developed, striving to advance Huainan’s position as a vital center for the inheritance and promotion of Chu culture in the new era.
