Huainan, Anhui: Vibrant Folk Customs Celebrate “Eryue’er Festival”
March 1, 2025, marks the second day of the second lunar month, a traditional Chinese festival known as “Dragon Heads-raising Day” (Longtaitou). Across Huainan, a variety of folk activities were held to celebrate the festival. Baoyi Town, located in Shou County, hosted a dragon lantern festival for the occasion. Through intangible cultural heritage performances such as dragon dances and land boat dancing, the local community engaged in dragon-themed celebrations. Residents watched dragon dances, admired soaring dragon decorations, and appreciated dragon-related customs, immersing themselves in traditional dragon culture while celebrating the Dragon Heads-raising Day. These vibrant activities expressed people’s aspirations for favorable weather conditions and abundant harvests in the coming year.
